This was a weekend thing that one of the kids did, just for fun, but it was so cool and imaginative that we had to share it.

This DIY Nature Art used:

Painting canvas

different art paints

nature gifts

hands

a wide imagination

As we said, you can totally customize your DIY Nature Art anyway you want.

The first picture group for DIY Nature Art shows two pictures of hands. One hand is painted and the other is holding a painted leaf. Scattered round the page are nature gifts of pebbles, shells, leaves, twigs, pine cones, and feathers. The background is white with a tie-dye border.

To make a DIY Nature Art:

1. Wander around the house, yard, woods, or park and pick up cool stuff that you find.

If you have a specific theme or texture in mind to start with, keep an eye out for one that fits.

It should also be noted that not everything you find on the ground should be picked up. There are some dangerous plants, broken glass that can cut you, and of course, live insects or animals should be left in peace. But leaves, twigs, vines, rocks, ect, will make cool shapes for your art.

2. Take your prizes home, and lay them out and organize them into how you want them to appear on your artwork.

3. Choose your media. It could be paper, construction paper, cardboard, cloth, or canvas. We are sure that there are other media that can be used, but these are the usual ones.

If you are very crafty, imaginative, and skilled, you could decorate pots, shirts, furniture, and more with your DIY Nature Art.

This particular piece was made on a painting canvas. As several members of the family paint and draw, we always have some canvases on hand. We are always keeping an eye out for sales at hobby stores, as well as yard sales, flea markets, and second-hand stores for canvase. This is a good way to get less costly ones.

4. Decide what kind of coloring system you are going to use.

For this DIY Nature Art, regular art paint was used, but you could go with watercolors for easy clean up, markers, spray paint, puff paints, crayons, or colored pencils. Even tie-dye paints would give this project a cool look.

5. Pick out your colors. As for colors, you can, of course, use any color or pattern, or layers that you want.

6. Go for it and have fun. There are many different ways you can decorate your chosen canvas, so just go with the one you like, try several different ways, or just have fun experimenting.

This DIY Nature Art had the canvas painted one color, then other colors applied with art pieces, hands, and we are pretty sure some paint throwing and splattering.

7. Set your DIY Nature Art aside to dry before you handle or frame it.

And there you have a DIY Nature Art made with your own hand and imagination.

This is a fun craft project to do with kids, but be sure you choose age-appropriate supplies. And yes, it will probably be messy, but it will be fun. When you are done, the kids will have a piece of handmade art to take home.

A simple step, crayon and paper version of this is a great craft for classes. But allowing the imagination run wild and mix matching all the possible canvases, mediums, and supplies will make for much more fun.

It may be advisable to do this craft outside, if things could get wild with the paints.

DIY Nature Art is messy, fun, and a wonderful family-time craft. Of course, if you are an artist yourself, you can make these by yourself and give them as gifts or decorate with them.
