As we move on with our Summer Dessert Recipe Series, we have a cracker rather than a cookie.

The title tells you everything, this recipe is indeed for the world’s best sweet almond dessert crackers. We understand that most people do not see crackers as a dessert. Normally crackers are not sweet but salty.

These dessert crackers are sweet, crunchy, and super delicious.

This is a two-part recipe but both parts are simple and quick. You first make the mix and then bake it. But both parts only take minutes to do. The mixing will take approx 5 minutes. The baking takes 10 to 12 minutes. The cooling till you can eat them is approx 5 minutes.

Not to worry, it will be totally worth it.

This is not a kid-safe recipe as everything is boiling and hot.

To make The World’s Best Sweet Almond Dessert Crackers

you will need:

 

a stovetop, saucepan

club crackers approx 24

½ cup of butter

½ cup of sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla

sliced almonds approx ½ cup

You can double or triple this recipe with ease if you need more.

It is best to use a sheet with high sides, as the mix will be liquid to start with.

Lay the club crackers on the parchment paper or waxed paper.

Be sure the crackers are flat. If the crackers are touching, they may stick together.

 

In the stovetop pan, melt the butter.

Add the sugar.

Bring to a boil. Let boil for two minutes and remove from heat.

Add the vanilla and stir well. Be careful the mix will be very hot.

 

Pour the liquid mix over the crackers. Again, be careful as the liquid will be very hot.

 

Sprinkle the sliced almonds on top of the crackers.

The amount of almonds is up to you. If you love almonds add more.

 

Put into the stove at 350 for 10 to 12 minutes.

Watch carefully to be sure the crackers do not burn. You want them crispy but not blackened.

Take the tray out of the oven and let the crackers cool a bit.

As they cool, the crackers will become a bit crispier.

Break the crackers up into single crackers. Some will break into smaller pieces, that is ok. They still eat just fine.

Now eat and enjoy.

The crackers will be crispy and chewy at the same time. These crackers will be similar to peanut brittle when they are cooled and ready to eat.

These crackers are very sweet and very rich. Do remember this is an old-fashioned recipe. It is full of butter and sugar and all those things that are so good but not so good for you. Practice prudence and good judgment when eating these crackers. We can tell you from experience too much of a good thing and you may regret it later.

So far, we have not had anyone that did not love these

crackers. We make them for church eating meetings, family get-togethers, and showers. We also make them sometimes for no reason, when we just want some.
