Today’s talk, Homemade Peanut Butter Filled Chocolate is a kind of an addition to one of our previous talks, Homemade Chocolate Recipe
Homemade Peanut Butter Filled Chocolates are like homemade, peanut butter cups but you can make them in whatever shape you want.
This recipe does have a couple of steps to the finished product but it will be well worth it.
To make Homemade Peanut Butter Filled Chocolates you will need:
Cocoa Butter
Cocoa Powder
Arrow Root Powder
Honey
Peanut Butter
Shaped molds
First, we will give you a quick overview of the steps then we will go into further detail.

To Make the Homemade Chocolate

The original recipe calls for cocoa powder not cut with arrow root powder but that was just too strong a chocolate for us. We divide the amount of cocoa powder with arrow root this makes the chocolate not as strong or dark chocolate.
We have to figure out how to keep the ratio correct, thankfully some of us “can do math”. This keeps the volume the same while cutting the heavy chocolate flavor a bit.
1/3 cup of powder in total 1/3 cup = 5 Tablespoons
The Homemade Chocolate Recipe that we use
½ Cocoa Butter
1/3 cup of powder in total 1/3 cup = 5 Tablespoons
2 Tablespoons of Cacao Powder
3 Tablespoons of Arrowroot Powder
1 teaspoon of Vanilla
2 Tablespoons of Honey

For this batch, we used Cocoa powder with Espresso in it but you can use regular cocoa, or whatever combo you choose. For a very dark, sharp chocolate, do not cut the cocoa powder with the Arrowroot powder.
Again, just be sure the ratios stay the same.
1. In a stovetop pot melt the cocoa butter.

2. Remove for heat and stir for about 2 minutes.
3. Put the now melted cocoa butter into a glass bowl and continue to stir.
4. Using a candy thermometer stir until the cocoa butter gets to 90 degrees.
THIS IS ONE OF THE CRITICAL PARTS. You must stir until the cocoa butter is 90 degrees. If you do not get this part right, the chocolate will not set right. This is a kind-of a tempering for the chocolate.

5. Stir the honey into the cocoa butter.

6. Add the cacao powder and arrowroot powder mix.
We find it easier to mix the two powders together and mix them well before you need to add them. Mixing in one powder til smooth and then the second one, was just too much mixing.

7. Add the Vanilla and whisk, mix, or stir until you get a smooth chocolate.
If you are not adding Vanilla then just whisk til smooth.
If you were just making chocolate to eat, you would spread the chocolate onto a pan and let it cool and set, then eat it. But we are using this chocolate to make Homemade Peanut Butter Filled Chocolates.
8. In shaped molds of your choice, pour the warm chocolate to fill the molds about one-third way full.
9. Let the chocolate cool and set totally before you continue.

10. Fill the molds another one-third of the way with the peanut butter.

11. Now you will need to make a second batch of chocolate.
Using the same steps make more chocolate.
12. Finish filling the molds with the second batch of chocolate.
13. Smooth off the tops of the molds and clean off any spilled chocolate.
14. Leave the chocolate out to set completely.

15. When the chocolates are totally cool and hard set, carefully remove them from the molds.

16. Place your Homemade Peanut Butter Filled Chocolates in an air-tight container.
17. Eat and enjoy.
These chocolates are very rich so do not overdo it. The peanut butter does help cut some of the dark of the chocolate. If you want very dark chocolate skip the arrowroot powder and use straight cocoa powder.
As with many recipes you can substitute ingredients that you do or do not want into this recipe. If you want Karo Syrup instead of honey that is fine as long as you keep the ratio the same. You can use creamy peanut butter or crunchy as you choose. As we said before, if you want very dark chocolate skip the arrowroot powder and just use the cocoa powder for the total amount of dry for the recipe. Add in the vanilla or skip it, add almond flavoring or, orange as you like. Always remember to keep the ratios the same but you can mix and match flavors as you like. You can make it sweeter or more bitter depending on what you like. This recipe is a bit ticky about the temp but it is very flexable as long as you respect the ratios.
And there you have made your own Homemade Peanut Butter Filled Chocolates. Since we have been making our own homemade chocolates, we have found that the store-bought stuff is just not as good as we used to think it was. Everyone in our family prefers the homemade chocolate to the store-bought stuff now.
Yes, it does take a bit to make and yes it does go quickly but it is still work it to have real homemade chocolate and Homemade Peanut Butter Filled Chocolates.
Making Homemade Peanut Butter Filled Chocolates may not seem like much and it may not be all that important in the greater scheme of life but it is one step closer to being self-sufficient. And who does not want to be able to make their own chocolate or peanut butter cups anytime they want to?
