As with some of our other talks, this is one of those “odd” things that the kids brought home to make. Homemade Chocolate Filled Hot Pockets Recipe is a quick, easy if a bit odd recipe for chocolate-filled bread pocket snacks.
When the kids come home with “let’s try this” we usually try it. To our surprise many times the try it out thing comes out pretty well. We have had the occasional kitchen disaster but who has not?
Anyway, here we go with how to make Homemade Chocolate Filled Hot Pockets.
You will need:
an open mind
bread slices
chocolate
a plate
a small glass
In the spirit of full disclosure, we did this recipe in two ways. The kids explained what had to be done and we adults said, what? No why not like this?
Well, it turns out the kids’ way was easier, quicker, and they got the desired results.
So the kids way:
1. Put a slice of bread on a plate.
2. Put a piece of UNWRAPPED chocolate in the center of the bread.
3. Place a second piece of bread on top of the first with the chocolate in between.
4. Take the small glass and “cut” the center out of the bread with it. Be sure to go through both pieces of bread.
5. Warm in the toaster or microwave.
Do not overheat or the pocket will pop and chocolate will ooze out. If you heat it way too long, it will explode in the microwave and blow chocolate all other the inside of your microwave. And do not even ask what you have to do to get the hot chocolate out of the coils of the toaster.
6. Eat and Enjoy.
It may seem obvious but it was not to all, to unwrap the chocolate from its tin wrapping before you put it between the bread slices.
The Adults’ way:
You will need:
a less open mind
bread slices
chocolate
a cookie cutter
1. Put a slice of bread on the plate.
2. Put a piece of UNWRAPPED chocolate in the center of the bread.
3. Place a second piece of bread on top of the first with the chocolate in between.
4. With a cookie cutter, cut through both pieces of bread to cut out the center of both pieces of bread.
5. Gently press the edges of the two bread circles together to close up the pocket. You may need to wet your fingers from the kitchen sink for this to work better.
5. Warn in the toaster or microwave.
Again, do not overheat.
Also, something of note, if you put it in the toaster and you do not get the edges pressed together well enough, it will drip into the toaster and you will have a burnt chocolate smell in the kitchen for some time. This only happens with the adult way method.
6. Eat and Enjoy.
As you can see in the final product comparison the kids’ way is pressed together better and did not split or crack open. Go figure.
Now as you know from our other talks, we do not like to throw anything away so we try to reuse all things if possible. After making the Homemade Chocolate Filled Hot Pockets Recipe we had the bread slices with no center leftover. We could have used them to feed the chickens or put them into the compost but we decided to make dinner with them instead. We took the leftover bread slices and made a family favorite, Quick Chicks in a Blanket Recipe.
Please feel free to check out that recipe also. We love them and have them often when we need a quick, healthy meal.
There you have the making of the Homemade Chocolate Filled Hot Pockets Recipe. This does make a quick, easy, and even cute sweet treat. If you need a finger food or a snack in a hurry, this recipe will fit the bill. Yes, you will need to have sliced bread and chocolate on hand but really who does not keep chocolate on hand? You can make homemade chocolate drops to use in this recipe but that does take a bit more planning.
We may do a talk on making your own chocolate when we have mastered that skill.
So we hope you enjoyed this talk on the Homemade Chocolate Filled Hot Pockets Recipe. Try it out and see how easy and good these little treats are.
