In the last couple of weeks, we have been talking about companies that we support. Week one was Made in the USA companies.  Week two was Going Green and Zero Waste companies.  The ones we have talked about are by no means the only ones that are making the world better, they are just the ones that we personally use.  Today, on week three, we will give you another group of companies that you should try out. As I have said before, with the number of family members on this farm, there is a huge diversity of interests and with that variety of pretty much everything.  This is a mix-match of companies that one or more of our family uses here on the farm.

I know this may seem old fashioned but we LOVE books. There are very few things better than the feel and smell of a book in hand. This farm family is not only 5 generations of farmers but 3 generations of teachers as well. Each one of us has a different preference when it comes to the kind of books we like best. But a book is a book and they are all valuable as you can always learn something from every book. This family has been collecting books for literally generations and they are all still here. It is a very rare thing that we will part with a book, does not matter what kind it is. Of course, some books have a more prominent place on the bookshelves, of which there are many, but they are all still taken care of and treated with respect. We have books about everything, teaching books, farming, animal care, cooking, gardening, building, birds, sewing, classic reading, contemporary reading, and much more. Along with books, one must have book marks. Yes, normally when you are interupted in the middle of a great read, you just grab the closest thing and stick it in the book. As you have discovered by now, we hand make many different things here on the farm. We have so many different interests and hobbies, that someone is always making something. Every family member has their own thing or things. Some of us make jewelry, some sew, some make handcrafts, we do ceramics, and a bunch of other things. In another of our past posts, we mentioned The Ravens’ Nest FaceBook page. This is where we put our handmade items up for sale. We have jewelry and clothes on at this time but have other things we will be putting up soon. Sometimes we hand make the parts for our jewelry or crafts but most of the time we buy components from a trusted retailer.   Such as Hobby Lobby or Michaels or Joans.

This was a diverse list of companies but all good, solid companies. With the farm and family, we all are into something different and the list of companies we have been talking about in the last few weeks will give everyone something to enjoy. We use products from these companies on the farm as well as gifts for family and friends. You can find all kinds of companies online. With a careful search, you can find companies that match up with your needs and beliefs. Finding companies that you like, love, use, and are proud to support is getting easier and easier. You do not have to settle for whatever is at the huge stores, you can find what you want with companies that believe and support the things you do.
