For those of us with “less than perfect skin”, we have a recipe today, Grammy’s DIY Essential Oil Skin Serum Recipe. This is a quick, easy-to-make recipe that used natural ingredients and essential oils. You can whip up a batch in minutes and it goes a long way.

You can find other recipes like this around but this is the one we use. Grammy took one of the recipes she found and added a bit to make her own version of face serum. It seems to be good for all skin types and helps improve skin with continued use. It is not an instant, miracle cure but as with many natural ingredients it will help gradually so there is no shock to the skin.

You will need:

1. 1 Tablespoon Aloe Vera gel

2. 1 Tablespoon Carrier Oil

3. 5 Drops of Lavender Essential Oil

4. 2 drops of Frankincense Oil

5. 2 drops of Myrrh Oil

We have a couple of Essential Oil companies that we use but StarWest Botanicals is one of our favorites. They offer high-quality essential oils as well as other fine natural products.

This picture shows the ingredients for making Grammy's DIY Skin Serum Recipe. There is a large bottle of Grape Seed oil, a bottle of Aloe Vera gel, a small bottle of Lavender essential oil, a small bottle of Frankincense oil, a bottle of Myrrh oil, and a metal tin.

To make Grammy’s DIY Essential Oil Skin Serum Recipe we used Grape seed oil as our carrier oil. Grape seed oil is soothing and moisturizing. Also of note, Grape seed oil does not seem to cause acne flare-ups in teens as some of the other carrier oils can.

1. Measure out all of your ingredients.

This recipe makes a small amount of finished product so there will be small amounts to measure out.

Do note some people’s skin can be sensitive to Frankincense and Myrrh, especially teens and people with generally sensitive skin. Do not use too much of either of these essential oils, they can cause burning if overused.

4. Place your newly made Skin Serum in the prepared container.

You can make a larger batch if you need more or do not want to make it as often but remember to keep the ratios correct.

After sitting a while, the serum may separate, but it is ok. Just mix it up again. The oils and the Aloe Vera gel do not seem to like to stay mixed when they sit for a while but it does not affect the serum’s use.

To use: Grammy’s DIY Essential Oil Skin Serum Recipe:

Apply a small amount to clean skin and gently rub in. Generally, this is used on the face but the neck and chin areas can also benefit from this serum.

It does not take but a dab of skin serum to cover the face area so do not use too much at once. Start off with just a few drops and add more if you need it. If your skin is very dry and rough, you may need to add a bit more to start with. But after continuous use, your will notice your skin has improved texture and feel. You will be able to cut back a bit on the skin serum as your skin improves over time.

Grammy’s DIY Essential Oil Skin Serum Recipe is good for both winter use when skin is dry and for summer use when there is sunburn and wind chapping.
