As you can see the dough is crumbly and a bit dry.  This is ok, it is supposed to be that way.  The dough will form as you knead it.

3. Roll the mix out onto the counter or a floured cloth.

Decorating is optional. We used blue, green, and white colored sprinkles to decorate our Danish Style Butter Cookies. The little sugar balls give the cookies a hint of sweetness and they pop in your mouth.

With some of the cookies, we added a dollop of apricot jam to the center before we baked them. The apricot jam gives these cookies a similar flavor to the Kalcky our grandmother used to make. We did a talk on that recipe in a 2020 Christmas holiday edition of Mamaw’s Holiday Treats, our traditional family recipes. Just in case you are interested in some of those recipes as well.

10. Place the cookies onto baking trays and bake at 320 degrees for about 10 minutes.

11. Remove from the oven and let cool on a wire rack. As with all baking, use protective oven mitts or potholders to avoid burning yourself.

12. Eat and Enjoy.

With this simple, limited-ingredient recipe even the kids can help. The kids like to do the rolling of the dough and the cutting into shapes. Of course, supervision is needed with the electric mixer and handling the oven.

This 3 Ingredient Danish Style Butter Cookie Recipe is great for any occasion. You can decorate them to fit any season or event, just pick the right colored sugar or even frosting if you like. You can even add food coloring if you want to have colored cookies. They also have a nice dry outside so you can “draw” your icing on to make faces or pictures if you have a steady hand.

This Cookie Recipe will give you great, cookies every time. They are a little crispy on the outside and tender on the inside with just a hint of sweetness. Any decorations you add give them more flavor or sweetness.
